The brothers of Shelton D. Redden Lodge No. 139 thank everyone who attended our Spring Jam 2009. Also, we want to thank all the brothers and friends who made this event so successful! We look forward to seeing you all at the next event.

Community Service
The brothers of Shelton D. Redden #139 focus greatly on community service and charity, particularly in Hyattsville, Prince George's County, Maryland. Our volunteer efforts center around:

- Assisting the elderly with health and wellness
- Distributing food via the SHARE Food Network
- Supporting Hyattsville's family activities
- Participating in youth mentorship
- Providing tools to aid in the identification and recovery of missing children.

We welcome you to our internet home! It is our hope that you find our site enjoyable and informative. During the 2008 - 2009 Masonic year the leadership of Shelton D. Redden Lodge No 139 will be continuing to build a better organization for it's membership through Community Service, Fellowship Events, FUNdraising, and Masonic education. For the last five years Shelton D. Redden Lodge No. 139 has received a number of awards for its participation in community service projects such as SHARE. We have also instituted a First Friday event so that brothers may fellowship with each other outside of the regularly stated communications. In the United States of America, in Canada and in the Bahamas there are some forty Grand Lodges of Prince Hall Freemasonry. There is also in Liberia a Grand Lodge of Prince Hall origin. These Prince Hall Grand Lodges exercise authority over more than five thousand lodges. They claim descent, directly or indirectly, from the Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Massachusetts which, in turn, is the offspring of African Lodge No. 459 warranted by the Grand Lodge of England (Moderns) on 20 September 1784. The great majority of these Prince Hall Grand Lodges incorporate the words 'Prince Hall' in their title. This was done following upon a recommendation made at a conference of Prince Hall Grand Masters held at Hot Springs, Arkansas, in January 1944. The object of adding the words 'Prince Hall' to the titles of the Grand Lodges was to overcome the confusion which had arisen among African-American members of the community in the United States where African-American...CLICK HERE to read the rest.
